““The [geisha’s] ancient styles of the coiffure are fast disappearing, their place being usurped by the Ichōgaeshi (or inverted maidenhair-leaf which requires no false hair, but consists of two tresses parted at the crown, made into rings, and gathered in at the top) and even the sokuhatsu (European style).
